Ten of millions of middle class consumers in China with stock market almost double in 2009. Everywhere across China are constructions and the economic growth in China is the envy of the world.

By one estimate, 50,000 skyscrapers will be built in the next 10 years but right now, they are being sold faster than they are being built. Apartments, villas, and houses are selling like wild fire.

Proposal for lower Ottawa property tax on renters

Mayoral candidate Alex Cullen wants to give people who rent apartments a tax break but that comes with the expense of homeowners. More than 200,000 Ottawa residents live in Ottawa residents but apartment renters are paying a higher rate than private homeowners in the same area.

That increase will be passing on into renters, Mayoral candidate Alex Cullen calls it discrimination. The people who lived in apartment buildings use fewer services from the city than private homeowners and yet they are paying more tax for the same services.

Mayoral candidate Alex Cullen had asked the council committee to change the tax and reduce rate in apartment buildings by 3%. Continue reading »

A new survey shows home prices for homes in Canada are raising quickly and some people wondering how hot the housing market really is. When you compared the prices to 2009, that this is not a big surprise. Overall Canada housing is up by 11% across the country.

Toronto and Vancouver housing prices are up by 20%. In Vancouver, a detached bungalow is up 22% with the average price of $900,000. For two-story houses, it cost even more. Continue reading »
